A couple of weeks ago Britt from My Little Sunshines posted a little behind the scenes peek at what readers should expect.
It reminded me that I had written something similar last September when we officially launched as Burke Does! Re-reading it now, I couldn’t help but laugh. When I wrote that post, I had a team of writers- 8 other women who had committed to writing two posts a month. They had all signed commitments and then within a week one by one they all dropped out.
The Creative part of Burke Does has had very little to do with knitting needles and needlepoint, though I’ve started getting back into my needlework. It’s been more about the art of writing or sometimes just sharing our feelings. I haven’t written nearly as much about planning as I thought I would- right before we re-branded I wrote about planning every other week!
We’ve taken this month to refocus, as promised.
Our New Schedule
Mondays | The first Monday of each month, I’ll still be posting my Monthly Goals. Two of the Mondays in the month I’ll be talking about my finances and spending. The other Mondays will be dedicated to emails and technology productivity.
Wednesdays | The second Wednesday of every month will still be dedicated to the What Would You Do Linkup. I’ll also be writing on things I’ve been working on learning that month and reacting to cool articles on the web.
Fridays | The last Friday of the month will still be dedicated to Final Friday Finance. The other days, though, will be dedicated to talk about Food and Life.
Tuesdays & Thursdays | Every last Tuesday of the month will still go to the Reading Roundup, but otherwise, we’ll be taking these days off.
Saturdays | Resting is good for the soul.
Sundays | I’ll be posting my weekly to-do lists on Emilie’s To Do Lists.
Things that are important to us
Part of the reason I got so disillusioned with blogging was that I was 1. trying to write every day and 2. writing things we were told we should be writing instead of what we wanted to write. Writing M-F was a lot of pressure and writing posts that people would like instead of what I wanted to was insane. But I never have issues writing the kind of posts we want to!
I also look forward to writing more about my life and what’s going on. I can’t remember the last time I wrote about the things that are happening in my life, but I’ve found those are my favorite things to read on other blogs! Why did I ever start doing what I love so much to start with? I’m not sure, but I’m hoping to get back to my roots and what made me fall in love with blogging in the first place.
You may notice, as a side effect, small adjustments coming to the way things look around here. Let’s just call it a facelift.
Cheers to Quarter Two!
