Moisturizing Body Wash
We’re rounding out February and the excitement of New Year’s and all those important resolutions is starting to wear off. But as we get into the swing of things this year, there is one resolution that is easier to maintain than you may expect.

Transitioning to a more natural lifestyle can seem overwhelming, but it’s gaining speed and significance as “frankenfoods” and chemical-laden home and beauty products continue to infiltrate our favorite supermarket shelves. It seems like it takes a doctorate of science to understand the labels on the products we use to feed and care for our families, and clean our homes.

Many of us evaluate the foods we put in our bodies (especially after the free-for-all of the holidays) and aim for healthier options that will boost our health and happiness, but rarely do we consider that our skin is our largest organ, and it happens to be porous, meaning what we put on our body, is just as important as what goes in it.

It was with this revelation that I began to venture into the world of DIY beauty products, and developed my favorite body wash recipe. The ingredients are all natural, deliciously moisturizing to the skin, and it can be tailored to your needs and preferences by simply changing up the combination of essential oils you use.

DIY Moisturizing Body Wash with Young Living Essential Oils
  • 1/4 c Sweet Almond Oil (I get mine here)
  • 1/4 c Grapeseed Oil (I get mine here)
  • 1/2 c Castile Soap (I use unscented so I can customize with my essential oils)
  • 1 tbsp Vegetable Glycerin (optional)
  • 20-40 drops (total) Essential Oils (depending on how strong you like your scent – We only use and recommend these essential oils)

Combine and store in a glass jar or container* and enjoy the luxurious lather!

*Essential oils will break down plastic over time so it is important to store them, and any concoction they are used in, in a glass or metal container.

Some of my favorite oil combinations:
  • Lavender and Peppermint
  • Patchouli and Cedarwood
  • Lemon and Lavender
  • Bergamot & Patchouli
  • Cinnamon Bark & Orange
  • Stress Away & Lemon

Young Living essential oils are the highest quality oils on the market, and are backed by the Seed to Seal guarantee which means they are strictly managed and tested throughout the distillation process, literally from the seed of the plants (grown on Young Living owned farms) to the sealed bottles. They are highly concentrated and can offer a wealth of health and wellness benefits when used to support the nine major body systems.

This month Young Living is “sharing the love” and offering a rare 10% discount on the Premium Starter Kits. These kits come with the 10 Everyday Oils collection, the Stress Away blend as a bonus oil, a diffuser (normal retail nearly $70 all on it’s own!), sample packets, Love It Share It bottles, and a Product Guide to help you get started.
