Welcome to July’s goal setting report where I show you progress on last month’s goals, how I set goals, and set new goals for the month.

If you’re new to Burke Does, you may be wondering why I would want to publish my month goals and share my failures and vulnerabilites right with my successes. You can simply skip to the next section if you’re not new here.

This all started out as I learned to set goals. After many months of setting goals where I was never successful, I have learned to set goals that are meaningful and help me towards my bigger aim. I use my Powersheets from the Cultivate What Matters shop to help me stay focused on my big picture goals.

I set weekly goals over on Emilie’s To Do Lists. This is part of my goal-setting system. I set my big-picture (6-month or 12-month) goals at the beginning of each year. Every month, I spend time deciphering what I will take on to get me towards my bigger goals by setting the monthly goals you will see below. Every week I actively work towards my goals by making a plan to do so.

I use the system that I learned in Asana for Bloggers to manage the different aspects of my life. As not-a-fulltime-blogger, I have to use productivity systems to help me manage my life. I spent most of my 2016 focusing on establishing productivity systems that helped me get to where I am today.

LAST MONTH’s Goals

Read // Read 3 Books. I READ FOUR BOOKS!! First I finished Love Your Life, Not Theirs by Rachel Cruze, The No Asshole Rule by Robert Sutton, Cultivate by Lara Casey, and #GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amuroso. My best month all year!

Fitness // Do accessory work 3x/week at home. FAIL. I barely even went to the gym 3x/week, let alone also did accessory work. I feel bad, but I’m going to take it as a reset month. It’s okay.

Money // Build the new budget system. YES! New budget system is a success!!

Coding // Finish LPTHW. NOPE.

Career // Rewrite writing page. NOPE.

BD // Launch Bookshelf. NOPE.

July’s Goals

As I shared in Shiny Squirrel Syndrome, I believe there are two kinds of goals in my life for the stage that I’m in right now. The first are maintenance goals. These are the goals that help me move from where I am to where I want to be in a slow way. They’re the goals that require you to make a little progress every day in order to get better. These are the goals that fit into my goals for the year. The other kind of goal is project-oriented. It’s about making progress on a specific task that fits into a larger project I am working on for some personal benefit.

Maintenance

Read // Read 3 Books.

Fitness // Crossfit 20 days (out of 21 week days)

Exercism // D0 8 exercism tasks.

Blog // Post 8 times.

MyToDoLists.Me // Already posted 27. Do 28, 29, 30, 31.

Project-Oriented

1. Make a 101 in 1001 List

2. Portfolio Site (What I Like Page + Writing Page)

3. Finish LPTHW

Stretch: Work through Units 3 & 4 of EBA.

Let’s do it!
