Do you ever see someone’s life from the outside and ask How does she do it? When I read Laura Vanderkam’s I Know How She Does It, I got a behind-the-scenes peek into what other women’s lives were like, and it was life-changing. I had real examples of what their schedules were like!

That a-ha moment is what I’m hoping to share here. When it seems like life doesn’t have enough time for you to get your workout on, that might be true, but it could also be that you just haven’t figured out how to fit it in your schedule. Here is how, when, and what I’m doing when I’m working out. This is just one more data point for you to collect and consider.

Remember: It’s important to remember that doing something is usually better than doing nothing. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Progress is not a Straight Line.

Sunday 10/7

Macros: 124P, 182C, 95F, 2079

I took Sunday to be lazy, lazy. I don’t think I left the house all day!

Monday 10/8

Macros: 131P, 173C, 68F, 1828

I did not work out on Columbus Day!

Tuesday 10/9

Macros: 139P, 178C, 86F, 2002

6:30 AM Crossfit (Workout Source)

STRENGTH:

Deadlifts: 5 – 5 – 5 – 5 – 5 (progressive)

  • I ended up at 185.

CONDITIONING:

12 Minute AMRAP

  • 5 Banded Ring Dips
  • 7 Deadlifts at 135
  • 9 Ground to OH with 25 lb plate
  • 100m Run

I got 5+19

Wednesday 10/10

All those Toes to Bars ripped my hand

Macros: 138P, 181C, 56F, 1780

6:30 AM Crossfit (Workout Source)

CONDITIONING:

7 Minute AMRAP

  • 1 Power Clean (85)
  • 3 Burpees
  • 5 Toes to Bar

2 Minute Rest

5 Minute AMRAP

2 Minute Rest

3 Minute AMRAP

Pick up each round where you left off.

I hit 15 + 4.

Thursday 10/11

Macros: 130P, 191C, 54F, 1770

Happy Hurricane Day off!

Friday 10/12

Macros: 117P, 201C, 49F, 1713

6:30 AM Crossfit (Workout Source)

STRENGTH:

1RM Snatch

  • I hit 90 lbs, but could not get under 95.

CONDITIONING:

21 – 15 – 9

  • Power Snatches at 55 lbs
  • DB Push Press at 25 lbs
  • I finished in 8:18

Saturday 10/13

Macros: 58P, 192C, 24F, 1216

I couldn’t get into the Orange Theory class, so I went into Crossfit and tested by 1RM Clean and Jerk. I ended up at 130. Not my best, but also not my worse.

Reflection

Four workouts is a solid number of workouts. I’m pretty pleased with how strong I felt this week. I hadn’t felt strong is so long. This week I felt strong. I lifetime PR’ed my snatch and my clean and jerk!

This week I’m focusing on a couple of things:

  • Getting closer to my macros
  • Saying no to new obligations
  • Drinking water
