I have a new home at Fort Bragg! The 264-something townhome in Raeford, NC is our current one-year lease and it is just perfect for everything we need. Here’s a thing: I’m from the Northeast and Casey is from the Midwest, so home styles are something that were really different for each of us growing up. He was always about the one-story homes (maybe a basement) but never a second story, whereas I have always believed you should not live and entertain on the same floors. This townhome puts us in the more rural area that he’s familiar and comfortable with but with my comfort of a two-story home. I think I might be winning him over too!
One of my first friends from Princeton, Mireille, is currently getting a PhD at Yale. She is originally from North Carolina, so she was home visiting her family she drove the 2 hours to come be our first dinner guest! The sweetest!
I got my HidrateMe water bottle in the mail finally! I bought from their Kickstarter campaign last spring and they delivered on the bottle five months late. Even now, I’m not sure that it works. Wherever I am, my phone is, so I just had to add the habit of carrying the bottle. It has a nice carrying loop, so that part has actually been super easy. I’m just not convinced that the technology works. I’ve only seen it glow in response to being prompted and it’s definitely not tracking my water right. Hmm. We’ll see how it goes.
Getting set up in a new home and a new space has come with changes. One of the things I’m working on doing it prioritizing, so I decided it was time to start my Lara Casey Powersheets. I ordered them nearly nine months ago on a “mistakes” sale (I still haven’t found a mistake, by the way). Have you ever tried the Powersheets? I think they’re going to be great in helping me get adjusted in a new home and prioritizing my goals. I’m trying to make them a part of my new morning routine!
Part of getting set up has been setting up my office so that I can work from home easily. Well, I got a desk from Rawesome Concepts and I am SO happy! The desk is an IKEA knockoff, but it’s made of solid wood. And, best of all, it was cheaper than the IKEA desk (by almost $100!). I will definitely be working with Rawesome concepts again as I build out the rest of the office! Next, I need bookshelves!
I spent last weeekend refereeing for the first time since moving from Baltimore! I was lucky enough to referee at the College 7s Championships in Cary, NC. The last time I was at this tournament it was as a player (picture on left) in 2013. This is definitely one of my favorite rugby pictures. I was so glad and honored that I got to be part of the referee team for such a big event and even some pretty big deal games!
Timehop reminded me yesterday that it’s been a year since I graduated college and… brb, still crying. It’s crazy to think how much has changed since then. If you had asked me then if I would be living in North Carolina by now, I would have laughed in your face!
That’s a bit of what’s been going on lately. What have you been up to?
