“If book-talk in this neck of the woods seems like it’s been quiet, it’s because, well, it has. After crushing reading in March with five books, I’ve only finished two since (and am in-progress with another two).

I don’t want to seem like I’m beating a dead horse or make excuses but really life has gotten in the way. In April, I was in Atlanta for rugby, went to a wedding in Ohio, and visited Casey at Fort Benning for almost three weeks. In May, I was all over the place- preparing a move, watching my little sister graduate college, actually move to Fort Bragg, and getting settled in a new home.

Frankly it’s a lot easier to turn on Netflix (and eat ice cream right out fo the carton) than it is to pick up a book at the end of a long day. Reading is work – it is not mindless or something that can be done in the background. It needs to be done with intentionality and lately the only thing I’ve been doing intentionally is scraping by.

That being said, as of today, I’ve read 12 of 20 books of my Goodreads challenge. Apparently, I’m still ahead of schedule. I’m glad because things have been so crazy, but I’m really working hard to make time to read!

Blog Content: How to Write Blog Posts That Get Your Readers’ Attention (Blogger Babes Blueprint Book 3)

I received this book for free in exchange for my honest review. That did not influence my review at all.
This is not the first Blogger Babes Blueprint Book I’ve read. In January, I read Blog Essentials: Finding Your Voice And Living The Blogger Lifestyle (Blogger Babes Blueprint Book 1), and in February, I read Blog Design Basics: Your Must-Know Visual and Branding Style Tips (Blogger Babes Blueprint Book 2). Both times I was disappointed. Frankly, this one was no different. None of this content isn’t already on the internet for free from following a few well-regarded bloggers. In fact, I bet most of it is available on my Pinterest boards.

Two stars.

Orange Is the New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison

Another crappy book. I really enjoyed the Netflix original series and it’s what inspired my decision to read this book, but GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE PIPER KERMAN. Oh my gosh. I thought Piper was so full of herself the whole book and except for a few moments of seeming human she had a holier-than-thou attitude throughout the book. I would not recommend at all. Also, not at all the like the show. (None of the characters at even the same).

One star.

Curious as to what I’m currently reading? Band of Brothers: E Company, 506th Regiment, 101st Airborne from Normandy to Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest and Your Money or Your Life: 9 Steps to Transforming Your Relationship with Money and Achieving Financial Independence
