Good Morning, Saturday! I am renewing my CPR certification today and trying to put a real dent into the book I’ve been reading. Like most mornings, I’ve got some Blue Lady Black from Zest Tea in my mug. There is nothing like this cup of tea to get me going.

Documentary I’m watching —
Acknowledging that this is a docuseries, but I’m very into “A User’s Guide to Cheating Death” on Netflix right now. Timothy Caulfield, author of “Is Gwyneth Paltrow Wrong About Everything?: How the Famous Sell us Elixirs of Health, Beauty & Happiness” (and other books), explores and experiments some of the “elixirs” he’s alluding to, such as detoxing, salt therapy, and plastic surgery.
While rooted in science, the show is not overwhelming science. Strongly
What I’m listening to —
I’ve been a huge fan of the StartUp podcast by Gimlet Media since the beginning when I accidentally stumbled on Episode 1 back in college. They’ve recently profiled Success Academy, a charter school network based out of New York City.
Having grown up in and around failing public schools, getting the opportunity to attend a Catholic high school on a full scholarship really opened a myriad of new doors for me. For many people, that saving grace comes in the form of a charter school, but those are not without political controversy.
These seven episodes that cover Success Academy do an amazing job of digging into the charter school network and addressing the criticisms that the school has faced. It’s a critical eye and really phenomenal reporting.
Book I’m reading —
Currently, I’m in the final bit of James Clear’s Atomic Habits, a New York Times Best Seller. I was really on the fence about buying this one because I want to read less in the self-help/productivity space this year, but J$’s suggestion really pushed me over the edge and I’m SO glad it did. This book is blowing my mind.
Lazy breakfast I’m revisiting —
This is a super fast-to-make breakfast. The Power Flapjacks just go in the toaster (I set mine on 6 where 4 is “regular”). When they come out, spread a little bit of whatever nut butter you’ve got on hand. Super fast to make (I will often eat this before my morning workout) and delicious.
