Oh hey hey heyyyyyyyyy. Happy Saturday folks! It is another slow Saturday morning here in Savannah, Georgia. Thanks for sitting down with me bright and early this Saturday morning. Like most mornings, I’ve got some Blue Lady Black from Zest Tea in my mug this morning. There is nothing like this cup of tea to get me going. Today should be a busy-ish Saturday. I’m signed up for an Orange Theory class at the just-opened Orange Theory Pooler studio this morning, and I have afternoon plans to knock out an ambitious project this afternoon. I’m planning on spending four hours at a new coffee house that was recommended to me. I will let you know if it’s anything special. Anyway, I thought I’d sit down today and just share a bit of what I’ve got going on in my mind.

I’m including pictures of my dog just because he’s a cutie patootie.

How I ended up at the gym last Sunday morning

On Sunday morning, I woke up wanting to sign up for a class at Orange Theory Pooler, a studio that I had not tried yet. Well, I opened my MindBody app and it kept telling me I had to pay. I knew that I still had Orange Theory classes in the month, so I switched over to the Savannah studio. As I was trying to see if it would give me the same message, I accidentally booked the 8:15 AM class! Because it was already 7:30, I couldn’t cancel! Instead, I just huuuuuuustled to get ready and out-the-door by 7:45.

I accidentally signed for the class, but I’m so glad I did. I was home by 10 AM, so I still had the whole day ahead of me, but I felt SO accomplished for getting that morning workout in.

🚨Redeemed and Dominant is on Netflix🚨

As someone who does not like to spend money frivolously, I did not buy Redeemed and Dominant on Amazon when it first came out because I knew that leading up to the Crossfit Games it would end up on Netflix where it would be my favorite price, free (or marginal cost of $0, but a distinction for another time).

Redeemed and Dominant is the latest Crossfit documentary, chronicling last year’s Games. Last year the third-place male finisher was found to be using performance-enhancing drugs after the games. He was stripped of his title and banned from Crossfit-sanctioned events for four years. I thought the documentary did a great job of addressing the situation.

If you’re looking for some badass fitspo, these are definitely the series to watch. I would suggest watching them in the following order:

  • Fittest on Earth (2016)
  • Fittest on Earth: A Decade of Fitness (2017)
  • Redeemed and Dominant (2018)

Writing and Things

A couple of months ago, I realized I wanted to learn and understand more about freelance writing. I’m lucky enough to know many folks whose careers are being prolific freelance writers. I have no ambitions to do that, but I knew that I certainly wanted to learn more. Right around the same time, Amy Bushatz‘s So You Want to Get Published: A Guide for Military Spouse Writers appeared on my newsfeed. I’ve long been an Amy Bushatz fangirl, feeling like I know her when we have not ever met, so this was an exciting way to feel like I was picking her brain. And for only $20. That’s what it costs when you take someone out for a cup of coffee to pick their brains! In fact, the guide paid for itself because I did end up pitching an editor who is listed in the directory at the end! Even if you’re just curious about the freelance writing process, I’d suggest Amy’s guide as a good place to start.

Speaking of freelance writing, here are some cool pieces I’ve written or been featured in in the last couple of months that I thought I’d point you to:

Wedding Planning

I don’t love wedding planning. I don’t even like wedding planning. But people keep asking me about it.

I ordered my invites. Most of the pieces are in place. I’m looking to finalize the Church details, rehearsal dinner invites, and DJ in the next couple of weeks. I’m definitely looking forward to the wedding, but I just don’t enjoy the details. It’s one day. I think it’s silly to stress over these things.

Yes, I have a TV in my bathroom.

What to Wear When You Work From Home

I recently shared lots of bathroom mirror pictures when I wrote about What I Wear When I Work From Home, and an impressive number of people noticed the TV in the background. In short, yes, I have a TV in that bathroom.

This is the guest bathroom where we have the garden tub. Sometimes, I like to take a tub, drink some wine, and enjoy a cooking show on Netflix. Sorry, not sorry.

That being said, I am very open to bath bomb suggestions if you have any! I love the feeling of taking a bubble bath but hate when the bubbles die out 5 minutes in. I am not fragrance-sensitive and just want my bubbles. Suggestions?

Handmade Soaps

Speaking of bath-related things, I’ve recently started using this handmade soaps from Etsy. The company is called Lova Soaps. They have some scents listed on their etsy shop, but their instagram really shows a variety of scents. I shared a bit about them on my Instastories when I got my first post a couple of weeks ago. I am really impressed with how sudsy they are and how clean they make me feel!
