Happy Happy Monday Friends. In an effort to reconnect with the lifestyle part of blogging, here’s just a little bit about what’s been going on in life lately. My life hasn’t been particularly interesting, but it has me still feeling good. Even though the circumstances are a bit different than they were when I wrote LMBL.
Easter was at the beginning of the month and my mom dug this gem out. My sister had those straight bangs for a long, long time. I was always a little chunky bunny (see what I did there?).
In the middle of the month, I went to New Jersey to hangout with my sister to celebrate her birthday weekend. I can’t believe my baby sister is 23. Gross. I found a flight on Allegiant, a discount airline that has a direct flight from Savannah to Newark Liberty. If you buy the flight far enough in advance, it’s only $42 each way! I didn’t buy it that far in advance, but it was still a pretty cheap flight.
I got there on Friday to have the regular sushi reunion with my sister. Pretty much any time we go home, my sister and order way too much to-go sushi and sit around complaining about how full we are while continuing to stuff our face. In this particular case, we also watched the new Jersey Shore on MTV. Oh man, it brought back all the memories.
Saturday, my sister had to work, so I spent the day relaxing in the best way. I wrote this article that I had been wanting to pitch for a while. I worked on some client work. I took a long bubble bath while reading Meet the Frugalwoods (phenomenal read, btw). Once my sister came home, we binged on The Worst Cooks in America. I am a Food Network sucker if there every was one.
I suggested to my sister that we make a wheat pasta with zucchini, squash, and mushrooms with alfredo sauce. She was telling me what a lame idea it was when lo and behold Tyler Florence suggested almost the exact same gift! With that, she was convinced. We went to the grocery store and bought the ingredients for that specific dinner! I have to say, I think it came out delicious.
Afterwards, we went for a night out with some friends doing twenty-something things and shouting every time they said it was someone’s birthday.
After a late night out, followed by drunk food, we had a great night sleep. The next morning, we went out to her Birthday Brunch, the highlighted plan of the weekend. We went to Bin 14, Hoboken’s first and only wine bar. The brunch was great 👌 and included bottomless mimosas and donuts.
Brunch was followed by hours of chatting and brainstorming at Bwé Cafe.
Last Monday, I flew home. Life has been a little boring, by comparison at least, ever since.
Life right now looks a lot more monotonous. I go to the gym. I go to work. I read books. I write code. I take glasses. I cook food with whatever I’ve got in the house. I take a lot of pictures of Bo too.
This pup and I have been spending a lot of time at the dog park. When we first adopted Bo, we lived in a town home. When we bought the house he got a huge yard to run around it. I loved being able to just let him out. Now that we’re back in an apartment, I have actually walk him again. I’m lucky that our complex has a dog park. I take him to the park and then sit in the sun listening to a podcast or read some book. I love sitting outside, and I have a feeling that here it’s going to be too hot to sit outside very soon.
Books read so far this month:
- This Will Be My Undoing by Morgan Jerkins
- Meet the Frugalwoods by Elizabeth Willard Thames
- The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands by Dr. Laura Schlessinger
Watched this month:
- Black Panther
- My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman with Malala Yousafzai
- My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman with Jay Z
I’m looking for a high-speed show that’s 2-3 seasons long and is high-action. Something I watch exclusively on my #livingroomassaultbike. Any suggestions?
