New year, same me. Anyone who knows me can tell you that I’m a sucker for hipster cafes and a giant cup of coffee. One of my favorite things to do is to explore new places and find somewhere that is perfect to curl up with a good book, but is a great place to go out for coffee with your friends. Of course, I went there with my best friends so there were lots of different takes on coffees and lattes in the works. So this place, The Grey Dog, is on Carmine Street in New York. It is located right in the Village, relatively close to NYU.
I love looking at everyone’s different tastes and choices. A brownie piece that was bigger than my hand was ours to share along with two lattes, a black coffee, and a chai tea latte that was simple to die for – once I realized that what looked like paper sticking out of my cup was actually a tea bag. You walk in and are greeted by a hostess who starts trying to find you a table and a chalkboard behind the counter covered in options from coffee flavors to sandwiches to small appetizers.
They also had a pretty nice selection of wine and their coffee experts were also wine aficionados. As I stood in line debating my options, I heard him describe the fullness and the flavors of the different wines to a very picky customer ahead of me. This is the kind of place you can just head to with your best friend and feel like you’re right at home. I absolutely loved this hipster coffee shop and I hope you will too!
