Saturday Morning (Afternoon) Tea // October

Holy Batman, it’s October. We are now less than 50 days from the wedding and less than 100 days from the end of the year. C is home and we’re back in a swing here. Things are feeling good 😄 Today is really epitomizes how nice it’s been to just get into a swing. Here’s just a quick collection of things going on lately:

A Look Into Today

After a 9 PM bedtime last night, I woke up at 6:30 this morning, well before my alarm clock. I rolled around the bed until 730ish, before breakfast of wheat Ezekial bread and two hard-boiled eggs (mashed onto the toast). As always, I started my day with some Blue Lady Black from Zest Tea. After breakfast, I answered emails, walked Bo, and worked on a GitLab pages deployment (not to do anything, but for the experience), before diving into the things on my todo list. It’s great to start the weekend with #InboxZero. I filled up my water bottle, packed a protein shake, and headed to Orange Theory Savannah for a 9:30 AM class. I earned 17 splat points before heading over to a Dexa Scan appointment. While waiting for my appointment, I finished the latest edition of Military Spouse Magazine. I headed home to interview Lauren Hope, the founder of #ShopMilitary for a profile I’m writing.  After the interview, walking Bo again, and lunch, I went for a mani/pedi. Now I’m writing this. I’m going to head to the gas station nearby, to pull out cash for a thing tomorrow afternoon, before an early evening where I hope to split my time between writing this monster post on the non-linearity of progress and writing a script to scrape the Crossfit Open site. A simple day, but so good.

Grey’s Anatomy is back!

I haven’t had a TV show on TV that I cared about in a very, very, very long time. In fact, I go out of my way to avoid starting to watch TV shows that are still airing for the very reason that I’m a cable cutter. Last winter, though, I got into Grey’s Anatomy on Netflix. I marathoned through all of the episodes there before signing up for a Hulu free trial and watching the whole season! (And canceling Hulu, duh.) We’re cable cutters, but with football season, we opted into YouTubeTV. I’m not hating that I can record shows and watch them later. Maybe this is the excuse I’ve been looking for to get into How to Get Away with Murder too.

Black Iron Nutrition

Since I wanted to get back into macro-tracking, I opted to work with a coach to help me push into it slightly more quickly than I would have otherwise. I’ve been working with Coach Kay of Black Iron Nutrition for four weeks now, and I’m super impressed. The numbers she set for me have been huge pushes, definitely not something I would have done the numbers for myself, but she is certainly pushing me. Every day is a fight to get enough protein, but I’m actually planning my macros for the first time ever. So far, so good.

Conference Marathon Week

I’m just going to start calling it “Conference Marathon Week.” I was at Military Influence Conference, USAA’s Digital MilEx, and FinCon last week, adding more to the list of things I need to “catch up blog” about. It was an amazing week and I have lots to share!
